Beck - Royal Oak

This story and a half Cape Cod home was renovated by the architect to create a contemporary design in the main living areas. Walls were removed to create an open floor plan. The original dining room was turned into an office. Windows were replaced with sliding glass doors. Skylights were added in the ceiling of a previous addition. The sides of the skylights were mirrored to bounce light deep into the newly created areas. Built in lighted display niches were created to display crafts and art work. An existing gas fireplace was moved into a divider between the Dining Room and Breakfast area. A full height mirror is located at the corner of the music area and acts to extend the space. A 22' square screened porch was added off of the rear facing breakfast room. See Beck - Screened Porch. Beyond the porch a rectangular fish pond was built along with a 44' long swimming pool. Extensive plantings were added to the rear of the house to create privacy and a natural wooded setting.
